Here’s what’s missing from the mercato for Milan to be on top
La Gazzetta dello Sport analyzes AC Milan’s situation in the transfer market and suggests what players should the rossoneri sign next.
MILAN TRANSFER NEWS – It can not be said that Milan’s current management, which took control of the club only in mid-April, has remained still these weeks. So many operations conducted by the duo Marco Fassone (CEO of Milan) and Massimiliano Mirabelli (Sports Director) with five new player secured till now. Fabio Borini was the latest to join the long list of Mateo Musacchio, Franck Kessie, Ricardo Rodriguez and Andre Silva.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, however, there is still something missing to complete the squad and make Vincenzo Montella’s Milan a top tier team. Today the daily newspaper has drawn up a sort of a shopping advice page, that is, all the players and specific roles that still need to be covered by the big Italian teams. Milan is continuing the work to fill some gaps. For the moment there is no high profile back up centre back to help the duo Romagnoli – Musacchio, imperative is the signing of a central midfielder who can play alongside the already arrived Franck Kessie and an attacking winger is needed to replace the departed Gerard Deulofeu who returned at Barcelona after the Spanish club activated the buy-back clause.
The new rossoneri team will therefore need at least three more important signings, assuming that Andrea Conti and Hakan Calhanoglu are the next purchases, already blocked, and just a step away from the signatures (read here). La Gazzetta dello Sport also suggests the names of some hypothetical signings for the still vacant positions. Considering the difficulties for Lucas Biglia, La Gazzetta suggest that Krychowiak would be the perfect midfielder for manager Montella’s style of play, with the alternatives being the Brazilian Fabinho of Monaco or the Frenchman Morgan Schniederlin of Everton. In attack instead Milan needs a quick and creative player, such as the Dutch Hakim Ziyech who plays for Ajax or the Spanish Mikel Oyarzabal of Real Sociedad.
Next week will be decisive for the rossoneri who are expecting to announce the signing of Hakan Calhanoglu and Andrea Conti. Also a meeting will be held with Gianluigi Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola to discuss the renewal. Italian media suggests that Gigio has changed his mind and is ready to reconsider his initial decision. One thing is for sure: A Milan so active in the transfer market was missing for a long time.
